bbqcanvas®  is brought to you by Ukiyo Ltd, which is basically a couple of creative entrepreneurial blokes with a commitment to quality, an eye for design and a taste for, well, good taste.

Each having had successful design, advertising and marketing agencies in Europe, naturally, we found ourselves in Mangawhai Heads and met while surfing. Being inspired by the great Kiwi lifestyle we set up Ukiyo to collaborate on new ideas.

We couldn't help but think that the bbq – the centrepiece of the great Kiwi outdoor dining space – spent 18 hours a day and eight whole months a year smothered in a rubbish     bag. So we asked ourselves, if you’re going to invest time and talent and moolah in the bbq and the whole picture-perfect, indoor-outdoor flowy thing, why the heck not find a way of protecting your steel baby from the elements that didn’t then turn around and throw style to the wolves?

Always looking for things well made, we stared off into the middle distance, took a Brilliant Ideas break and immediately came up with four designs. We call them the 2010 début range of bbqcanvas®  : one superbly functional, ultra-tough, weathertight weave proudly presented in four contemporary twin-toned iconic designs.
